In the 2008 recession, we cut resources to our state’s most economically vulnerable seniors, and funding was not restored until last year. I worked with advocates for senior services to secure that funding after over 10 years without it. 1/2

I am appalled at the tweet by @realDonaldTrump, "when the looting starts, the shooting starts." His statement is unacceptable & he needs to apologize. Our Nation is mourning over the murder of man in handcuffs. Arrest and charge all the officers involved for this heinous crime.

It with a large degree of humility and a great seriousness, I accept for my office the responsibility for leadership on this critical case involving the killing of George Floyd.

We are going to bring to bear all the resources necessary to achieve justice in this case.

In Santa Clara County, we’ve been sheltering-in-place since March 16th. Today, June 1, is day 77. I mention that because we’ve officially surpassed Wuhan’s 76-day shelter-in-place period. About a month after reopening, new cases were reported there.
