Bay Area renters might be turned off by hefty apartment prices, tiny spaces and random roommates, but when they look to move it’s usually to a neighboring city. About 42 percent of the searches for apartments in San Francisco come from outside the city and East Bay — but many of those come from the San Jose metro, according to a new survey by Apartment List.
